MediaTek vs. Qualcomm: Specs, Reviews & Your Preference

Smartphones are getting cheaper day-by-day and now even the layman is gossiping about core technical features such as processors and chipsets. MediaTek and Qualcomm are the two front-line chipset makers that we usually hear about these days. Let's check-out, which would you prefer to be the part of your smartphone.

You may find, that the manufacturers of low-cost smartphones generally features MediaTek processors. On the contrary, Qualcomm's Snapdragon provides all the high-end, cutting edge technology, and therefore they are generally used in pricier smartphones than MediateK processors.

The Taiwanese chipset maker MediaTek is working hard for its new octa-core chipset MT6795 that is twice faster than its previous version and can enable the "2K" display like other smartphones such as LG G3 and other devices. MediaTek has already proven itself in many low-cost mobile phones, but now it's pushing the limits for high-end smartphones.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon processors beats the MediaTek in nearly all the aspects. The Snapdragon processors has far better clock speed per core. The four cores of Snapdragon easily beats the four cores of MediaTek by clocking at the speed of 1.7GHz to 1.2GHz of the latter. It also has 2MB of L2 cache compared to 1MB of MediaTek and beats the MediaTek in the GLBenchmark 2.1 Egypt Offscreen and the BrowserMark 2.0 tests.
