Apple's List of 2015: iPhone 7, Apple Watch, iPad Pro & More

For Apple, 2015 is going to be huge and there are some probable speculations of several products that can be the highlight of the year. Take a glimpse of the products, that Apple may unveil this year.

Apple Watch

Apple Watch is definitely going to get released this year, as the company has already announced it. This is going to be the first smartwatch by Apple, and it's most likely to launch in mid spring. Health related apps can be the main focus of this watch.

iPhone 7

Although it is a long time until Apple will officially confirm the release of the next generation iPhone, such a device release is absolutely inevitable. The iPhone 6 was another massive success for Apple, indicating that the momentum generated by the world’s most successful smartphone has yet to halt significantly.

iPhone 6s

There has been absolutely no word from the Cupertino-based Company on this persistent Internet gossip, but it would be logical for Apple to release an affordable smartphone for the budget and East Asian marketplace in particular.

iPad Pro

The iPad was a massive success when Apple originally released it, and although the tablet market has slowed since then, last year saw Apple significantly refresh its tablet range, breathing new life into the iPad.

iPad Air & iPad Mini

These two more consumer-focused devices will also probably see the light of day in 2015, as Apple looks to improve his entire iPad range. It is unlikely that Apple will redesign these industry-leading tablets to a great extent, and the focus will probably on upgrading its capabilities and internal components.

iOS 9

There are already reports that Apple’s next operating system for mobiles will be ready in due course, and iOS 9 is being linked with the next iPhone release in September. Functionality in this latest version of the critically acclaimed operating system will likely focus on mobile payment and Apple Watch functionality in particular.

Functionality in this latest version of the critically acclaimed operating system will likely focus on mobile payment and Apple Watch functionality in particular.

Apple TV

Apple TV has been somewhat neglected in recent years, which is perhaps not surprising given that it has always been a minor product for Apple, with massive sellers such as the iPhone driving the company forwards both creatively and economically.

Microsoft Steps Into VR with Holographics Hololens Headsets

Virtual reality has been a growing trend today in the world brimming with technology, thus the tech giant Microsoft reveals its first of its kind VR device that delivers more than just augmented reality.

Microsoft announced the holographic Hololens, a new entry as a VR headset space, but it delivers more than its competitors.

The Hololens combines the physical and the digital things around us to create a virtual holographic image via the see through holographic lenses. The Hololens has its own computer and doesn't need any other device to be tethered with.

It also creates a spatial sound, so you can feel the holograohic images around you. It has an in-built high-end CPU and GPU, and Microsoft has also implemented something new, which it calls "HPU" a holographic processing unit.

This device is equipped with the new Windows Holographic. The developers team is already working on the apps need to perform on this platform. The apps for this device will be compatible with Windows 10, and as far as these are going to universal Windows 10 apps, so it's going to rather easier for developers to develop them.

Microsoft demonstrated the impeccabiliy of Windows Holographic, pairing it with Hololens on stage. It showcased, how to build a 3d virtual quadrocopter using the Holostudio app, finger pointing and some exclusive voice commands. The design created using Hololens can also be 3d printed, if there happens to be a 3d printer.

This platform is going to be more interesting with more holographic apps in the market. Microsoft hasn't given any specific release date of Hololens, but their executive said that "this device will go on sale according to the Windows 10 timeframe".

Microsoft Expected to Launch "Phone-Laptop Hybrid" Unveiling Windows 10

We've been talking about Microsoft's important Windows 10 event since late November, and finally, it goes down tomorrow. Because Rumorville never sleeps, we have a few last-minute hints at what might go down tomorrow.

The most interesting rumor involves a "phone-laptop hybrid", one that gave me the immediate thought of someone holding a 13-inch notebook to their ear. One would be to bundle an LTE chip inside of the notebook that would allow people to place calls through the device (either using speaker phone or a headset), while another would be a clone of Apple's OS X feature that lets you pair your phone with your notebook to handle calls in much the same way.

Aside from that, Microsoft is expected to show off Windows 10's design that involves the same code base across its entire platform. Phone or PC, the OS will be similar at its core (excluding obvious issues if the device uses a non-x86 processor), allowing developers to target more than just one type of device when publishing an app.

Congruency across the product line is one of Microsoft's biggest goals with Windows 10, so it might not come as much of a surprise to learn that the company's two separate app stores are set to become one - phone and desktop just won't have a reason to be separated anymore.

It does seem likely, though, that not every app will automatically run on every device just because it uses Windows 10, as different classes of hardware have different capabilities.

Phone-Laptop Hybrid Unveiled

Whatever's going to be announced tomorrow, something tells me that the event is going to do well in hyping the Windows 10 train up even more.

Xiaomi Mi Note Phablet is an iPhone Killer

Xiaomi, the Chinese company that recently became the world’s most valuable startup (depending on your definition of startup), took the wraps off its latest phone in Beijing today… and the comparisons to Apple are likely to flow once again.

The Xiaomi Mi Note is priced at 3299 CNY (~$530) for a 64 bit model, and the higher-speed Mi Note Pro, both look to be the Chinese company’s response to Apple’s iPhone 6+. Indeed, that’s a comparison that Xiaomi positively encouraged at its launch event, where CEO and co-founder Lei Jun made multiple references and comparisons of the two phones.

The Mi Note itself sports a 5.7-inch screen, with a Snapdragon 801 2.5 GHz processor powering it, alongside 3GB RAM. The 16GB version retails for 2,299 CNY (around $370), while the 64GB model is 2,799 (circa $450).

The Mi Note is just 6.95mm thick and weighs in at 161g. Jun said the company had focused on improving battery life — it actually produces a line of portable chargers, so has the knowledge in-house — and the Mi Note packs a 3,000 mAh battery courtesy of LG.

Much of the comparison to Apple stems from the fact that the U.S. company is still seen as the producer of the best products on the market, which makes it the standard to beat. Although Lei Jun did crack a few jokes, including one about how easy it is for Apple customers to switch their SIM to a Mi Note thanks to its support for multiple SIM types.

The feature-packed Mi Note is sure to resonate with fans in China, where the iPhone 6+ has reportedly been a big hit, and it will be interesting to see how it fares overseas, too.
