Google has been testing on Lexus since
few years with self-driving technology, but now it has announced that
it will test the technology with its own cars.
It's an electric car with two inbuilt
seats and a screen displaying the route. There's a laser and radar
sensors doing all the work such as braking, acceleration and steering
wheel control. The car is favorable for self-driving technology with
quite adorable looks.
The car will get all the required
indications from Google maps. The driver can use its smartphone to
provide directions to the car for reaching the desired locations via
the simple app. The only manual buttons given in the car are stop/go
and an emergency button.
Christopher Urmson, director of the
Google’s self-driving project, told "The New York Times"
that, the range of the car will be approx 100 miles equivalent to a
Fiat 500e. The safety director of the project, Ron Medford,
administrator in-charge of vehicle safety research and regulations
told that the car has dual steering and braking system, if one fails,
the car can rely on other.
